It was not a coward move avoid the Old Forest. It was even more than coward, but really strategic and intelligent after all. Ricther is at lvl 20, proud owner the title "The Undying" that probably I'll use for like 2 days or until I get something better. But still proud of that. :)
After the quests on Adso's camp I went directly to the Book chain and Buckland, several quests were waiting for me and for other hundred of players as well, you know? Its good to find out that there's people out there still getting some alts to lvl or just trying out the game. Its normal, between several friends of mine, to hear that they find horrible to level up a character from lvl 1 to lvl 70+ in others games, like WoW (For example) and thats why they stuck with the toons that they have with at least lvl 68 and up.
Anyway, I was getting busy with all those quests, killing wolves, bears, boars, gathering mushroom and other few things aside the quests like, for example, killing wolves, bears, boars and brigands. Several times I forgot that I were a low level and I were just running around without looking at the morale bar but, thanks that most for the quest at low level gives as a reward some morale potions, I didn't died like a noob. Almost died like a hero, but never as a noob. Actually.. there was one chance that I almost died like a noob, but that was inside the Old forest, I will get to that.
Mushrooms... Hmm vs Eww |
But from Buckland its another story. Easy to enter, several quest at the beginning that helps you to understand the entire plot inside the Old Forest and some, for some lower levels, good rewards as well. But wait! There's also a lot of perils in there as well.
You see that screen above? Few second before I had a horrible fight against 3 bears and two wolves with a bit of rest between each one, enough to loot and run a bit. The beasts in here are quite closer so you must go inside with caution, running around the mob like if you were doing PvP its not always a good idea, walking backwards trying to avoid other patrols may end attracting other unseen patrols. Behind the trees there's always a beast. Avoid Bats and other beasts in the same combat group since Bats can stun while Bears lower your fate and Wolves applies DoT.
One bear its not a problem... 3 bears and two wolves... They might be. |
Its not a hard stuff, just use your head, remember, the Old Forest is not a safe place anymore. But anyway, thanks to this Old Forest and one other quest about going from Buckland to Adso's Camp I got 4 points left to lvl 20. I wont deny it, I was scared, in that moment my brain decided to make lots of interrogates: What if, fighting against a boar, I go D/C? What if I get owned by several bears? what if I fell from some higher spot and go defeated? I were only at 4 points to lvl 20 and I was scared as hell.
Thanks to the Valars, the boars that I confronted was silly and pacific and I got several criticals. He granted me the poinst that I need it (and more) to reach my beloved title of Undying. And with it: Skirmishes. I went to Bree to Train, then to the Skirmish camp at Bree for the Tutorial and got some new weapons to finally: Skirmishes.
I totally forgot what was being a low level in this place with a almost useless companion. Almost died (Like a hero) But I survived. I realize several things that I didnt liked with the Champion, for example: My Power was getting easily drained with my attacks, lots of potions were used in the entire fight and most of them were of Power. The second wind skill its kinda great, but doesnt give me enough sometimes, specially in a fight.
Gondamon, serious business. |
Me and Random Herbalism. |
At the end I defeated the Dragon and the Dwarf boss of the instance, alongside with the two random encounters to get a decent and nice reward that helped me in getting some new gear. Yes, As the noob that I am, I totally forgot that I had trained the Heavy armor use and I didnt got the new armor (from skirmish) at the beginning.
After checking all my gear and stuff I decided to craft a bit, specially the symbols for the Crafting Guild of Weaponsmith. As you know, this guy is a Weapon-master that its gonna work hard to give Khas, Varsalla, any other toon and, of course to himself the best weapons ever as long as they can get their mats. Except Khas and Varsalla that have given a lot of gold and minerals for his vocation.
I'm pretty excited about this character, its a different way to play (Melee and heavy armor user) and reminds me of Serendis who I miss a lot but I'm glad to got rid of her. maybe, someday, I will decide to make another character, It may be called Serendis.
Ricther in Ered Luin... there's a lot of deeds in here to be done. |
Duillond, second town for the Elves. |

Re: Door in Bree Town min. lvl 90 to get in??
The door is useable on the Bullroarer test server but it's not meant to be useable on the live servers, so the devs put a level limit on the door for the live servers that no player can reach. There are more doors like this in other parts of the game, not meant to be useable on the live servers but meant to be useable on the test server. On the test server, there is no level limit and the doors can be used.
As for what's behind the doors, it's the PlayDwarf mansion, bearded lady dwarves in cute caveclaw costumes.
Well, I'm out for now, good luck my friends and see you later! Have a awesome hunting and a great night :3
