Beware the Rare mobs

Imagine that you find yourself into a old, abandoned natural passage inside a ruin, the place emanates a rotten odor that is sofocating. Webs arround the trees and many corpses on the floor announce you that some vermin have been doing his, or her, will on that part of the Ruins. Yet your quest sends you to the deeply heart to find some old relics, lost in time, from a now extinguished empire. In a glimpse you see some shadows moving around the webs, near a destroyed old brigde that could fall in any minute.

Unfortunatly, this is your only way, even if you know that there is a trap, you have to cross under the crumbled brigde to reach the the heart of the ruins. With a single and delicate move, you withdraw your sword with elegance and set your shield ready for combat, it is certain that you wont be able to go through it without a fight. Several spiders crawl out from their nest as they sorrounds you, looking as their new prey, yet you have not lost your hope, you know that you are able to give them a hell of a fight in that passage.

The fight start as the first spider jumps over you, but you are far away too agile for the spider and, in the air, you stab her on his stomach, killing in the act. Few of the spiders looks at you and charge in order to attack you without mercy, maybe your only chance is running back but you are not even thinking about it. As every swing of your weapon, a spider falls dead to your feet and the shield is taking all the damage that they could do, since webs to stings.

You could win this fight, but you are a single mortal against a small army of spiders, and your resistance is starting to fail. You feel tired and every hit with your weapon is less powerful. You need to go back but the way it's closed, some other spiders are behind you, waiting for the perfect moment. But something turns the battle in a different way. A horrible sounds break into the air and the spiders fall back, cowering in fear. You are tired and wounded, a small injured in the leg is making you to bleed.

You look up, to the top of the brigde, only to find the source of that horrible sound. A huge silvered spider is looking at you, between all the corpses of her brood and hungry. Then you got the feeling that all the previous spiders were just a way to see how dangerous you were, and that this huge, silvered spider, is in fact your real challenge.

The Rare mobs, as their name says, are uncommon creatures that are walking into the wilderness of the middle earth, watching over their domains and making their rules. They hit harder, have a more life points than usual, extra abilities or spells, and drops special items, posible purple one, but for sure some shards.

It is hard to find these creatures, but you can recognize them between their similar for a different color, nasty size, proper name or maybe for the character portrait colors. When its grey means that is a normal stuff to kill, when its red, its signature type, when its red and green with a Sauron eye: a Rare mob. And if the portrait have several colors, like reds, yellows, blues and manny other: Run fast or have a entire party to defeat it.

I have come across several of them, one in the Old Forest (a wolf), in the barrows I went against a Undead and a bear, in the Lone lands I had my fight against a spider, and all of them.. well, not the wolf, dropped me a small shard, used to making powerfull top tier items.

Theres a screen of he spider, hope you like it :)

The spider of the tale, well.. kinda.. I was chasing her in the ruins for like 5 minutes.

Take that! I decided to engage the battle and realize that she was giving me a hard time.

But, fighting against a Healer with shield and melee attacks that heals... Is useless,  I got her legs and my shard after the battle. And no poison at all.
